Teaching Story - Part 3

Message from Mother Earth - Guatemala, 2017

It was months later, after the adrenaline of the day had worn off, and I was with my spiritual director, Sister Pat. She is a very wise mystic, a Franciscan Nun who has known and guided me for two decades. I brought the story of my experience in the sacred womb-like pool in Guatemala to her. She led me on a meditation journey back to the cave of Mother Earth and had me re-enter the waters of this place. While there in the energy of the waters I asked what message Mother Earth (Pachamama) had for me. She said, “I love you”. This felt very warm and true in a way not realized before and it seemed like the message was complete. Unexpectedly Pachamama added a message; “Love me back.”

There it was — an epiphany. A call to respond with a realization that this life-changing relationship with Mother Earth would be both lovingly supportive to me and included a call for conscious loving back from me. I had a choice for taking on that responsibility.  A call to Ayni (right relationship)

I have much gratitude to be alive on the planet at this time, even with the distractions, hardships, violence and chaos. The message of the womb-pool in Guatemala gave me the reassurance of love, support, and purpose to be here now.

Also, the invitation to attend to the connection of Creator Source and Mother Earth in response to the nurture freely given to me. This teaching story

reminds me daily of how I am connected to a much bigger reality of both the seen and unseen worlds being interrelated. My awareness, thoughts, words, and actions, really matter. I choose to live in a state of wonder where this kind of interaction and experience with Spirit is not only possible but a regular life-giving occurrence.
